‘The Helix’ bridge links the Marina Centre and Bayfront areas, completing the 3.5 km long walking route around Marina Bay.
Design Symbolism
This 280-metre long bridge has a unique structural design comprising two interlocking spiral steel tubes that twist in opposing directions. This resembles the double helix structure of DNA and symbolizes ‘life and continuity’, ‘renewal’, ‘everlasting abundance’ and ‘growth’, reflecting the key aspirations for Marina Bay. The bridge includes four viewing ‘pods’ that give visitors panoramic views of the city and events within the bay.
Engineering Feat
The double helix structure is a world’s first for a curved bridge. It provides inherent strength to the bridge and supports the walkway, shade canopies and night lighting.
Lighting Concept
At night, the bridge is illuminated by programmable, low energy LED lights that express the beauty of the structure and enhance the visitor’s experience. Coloured symbols on the walkway represent the four ‘bases’ found in DNA.
Opened by the Minister for National Development, Mr. Mah Bow Tan, on 24 Apr 2010.

Simple. Unique. Unexpected. Ganito ang mga dapat nananalo, though deserving din naman iyong iba. It’s just that hindi lang talaga dapat naka-base iyong standard o norm ng talento ng Pilipino sa pag-awit. Weird. Feeling ko sila ang mananalo for this season. Kung sila man, peksman, hindi ako magmumura ng isang buong araw.
Paging @culturalcenterphilippines! This talent should not be wasted! This is what the CCP stands for: The best in the Filipino.
